Market outlook on the remaining month of March and the future performance of the US financial market:
- The latest Consumer Price Index was released. Inflation in the U.S. in February increased by 3.2% compared with the same period last year, which was higher than market expectations for two consecutive months.
- S&P 500 hit a record high but indicated poor breadth of gains.
- TikTok is under fire in the U.S. as the U.S. House Of Representatives passed a resolution for TikTok’s Chinese parent company ByteDance to sell TikTok’s stake in U.S. operation for the company to not be banned in the U.S..
- U.S. Producer Price Index (PPI) for February was also released. The unfavourable pace of growth suppressed the 3 major U.S. stock indexes.
How Singapore is being affected by the U.S. financial Market:
- Singapore is still a relatively small stock market, and the trend of the local stock market will inevitably still be affected by the volatility of the economy and stock markets of the United States and other major countries.
- Investor’s should closely monitor the trend of U.S. interest rates.
Investment outlook and risk management:
- The U.S. stock market has been hitting new highs recently, as have the prices of gold and even cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin.
- Beware of imminent market adjustments.
