Good morning everyone, I am Shawn, a Wealth Manager from Phillip Securities.
Signs of inflation easing propelled the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite to new highs on Wednesday, with analysts saying the data aids the Federal Reserve in moving closer to starting rate cuts.
The probability of the central bank beginning rate cuts in June edged slightly higher on Wednesday, to 28.3% from 26.4% on Tuesday. Early Wednesday, headline CPI inflation for April came in at 0.3%, slightly lower than the 0.4% consensus projection. Core CPI at 0.3% was inline with forecasts.
The CPI print offered a modicum of hope that inflation is cooling, albeit slowly. The Fed will certainly need a series of cooler reports for adjusting its rate easing timetable, but the CPI report suggests that the path towards 2% is a bit less bumpy.
Regardless how volatile the market can be, I advise everyone to exercise with cautious so as to minimise risk.
The above is my view for the market. Do contact me if you have any query.
