Hello to all 96.3FM listeners, I am Phillip Securities Wealth Manager,Xu Chun, Clare.
After the S&P 500 Index rose by 15.5% in the first half of this year, U.S. stocks are more prone to correction coming into the second half of the year. Factors including corporate profitability, inflation and economic data will affect the timing and extent of the Federal Reserve’s interest rate cuts and uncertainty about the November presidential election. The U.S. Personal Consumption Expenditure Price Index (PCE) to be released in May this Friday will be a key data for observing inflation. If it is lower than last month, this may be a good sign for the stock market. The cooling of inflation reduces the resistance for the Feds to cut rates.
Inflation” factors such as supply chain improvements and the surge in labor force brought about by immigrants are unlikely to last. In addition, geopolitics, fiscal stimulus, and loosened financial conditions are additional potential risks to inflation, and if interest rates were lowered too early or too quickly, it may cause inflation to rebound.
My recommendation to investors is to understand their risk tolerance and make adjustments to their mid and long-term investment plans and rebalancing their asset allocations so that they are not affected by short-term market fluctuations.
Respond calmly to volatile market events and you will reap long-term rewards in the stock market. I am Clare, Wealth Manager at Phillip Securities. Thank you for listening to my market insights.
